Hourly Rate: $17.00
GENERAL MISSION OF EACH EMPLOYEE:
Work as a Universal Worker to provide assistance and maintain a kind, caring, and respectful atmosphere for all Residents, Residents’ families, Guests, and fellow Staff. Be sensitive to the special needs of seniors with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and demonstrate a genuine caring attitude. Encourage Residents’ maximum independence, promote Residents’ freedom of choice and individuality and respect the privacy of all Residents, provide excellent customer service to all you come in contact with.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support, promote and follow the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Memory Care and Enhanced Assisted Living Residence
· Attend in-service educational sessions and other knowledge, skill, and competency developmental opportunities as required.
· Follows directions as delegated by the Wellness Director/RN/LPN Supervisor.
· Reports important information in a timely manner to Wellness Nurses
· Reports any physical/mental change to Wellness Department or Administration immediately.
· Reports any signs of verbal or physical abuse to Wellness Coordinator/RN/, LPN Supervisor on duty or Executive Director immediately.
· In a 911 emergency willing to go with Resident to Hospital Emergency Room and remain until Family arrives or Resident is admitted.
· Accompanies Resident to Medical Appointments as requested.
· Recognizes that the need of Residents dictates assignments and is willing to work on any floor assigned.
· Keeps HHA/CNA Certification current.
· Responds to resident or facility emergencies and assists with facility evacuation
· Assists with all activities of daily living as requested or needed by Residents as outlined in individual service plans including assistance
with:
· Care of teeth and mouth.
· Bathing of Residents (bed, sponge, or shower).
· Dressing and undressing activities.
· Grooming, including shampooing, drying and combing hair, shaving, and routine care of nails.
· Toileting when necessary.
· Ambulating when needed including assistive devices.
· Transferring to and from bed/chair if needed.
· Maintaining knowledge of whereabouts of Residents at all times
· Making and changing bedding/linens as often as necessary.
· Prescribed exercises as taught by professional staff.
· Socially engaging Residents in meaningful activities in order to enhance their quality of life.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Certification from a New York State Department of Health approved Home Health Aide Training Program
· Prior Home Care or Assisted Living experience working with seniors.
· Ability to clearly speak, read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.
· Ability to respond to inquiries from Residents, Residents’ families, other employees, and regulatory agencies.
· Desire and patience necessary to work with Residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
· Good reasoning ability to be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Able to safely assist with evacuation and assist emergencies.
· Physical Demands:
- Must be in good physical condition and able to move freely throughout the residence; must be able to push, crawl, reach, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel or crouch; must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. and must be able to stand for long periods of time.
